Business Continuity

What would happen if you lost all of your documents?
Are all of your electronic records scattered across multiple workstations?
Do you have a  disaster recovery plan that will restore all of your important data?
Would your business be able to recover in the event of a data loss?

According to experts a company that experience a computer outage lasting more than 10 days will never fully recover financially.

Company data loss is a major issue from almost every organization. Human error, mechanical failure and catastrophic events account for the majority of lost data. 32% of data loss is caused by human error. 44% of data loss caused by mechanical failures. Nearly 18,000 businesses were dislocated, disrupted or destroyed by 9/11. Hurricane Sandy disrupted more than 265,000 businesses in New York and 19,000 small businesses in New Jersey. Hurricane Katrina impacted thousands more.

According the U.S. Bureau of Labor, 93% of companies that suffer significant data loss are out of business within five years.

PiF Technologies Disaster Recovery Customer United Solutions logo

“The offsite disaster recovery feature was a key selling point for United Solutions. The IT department benefits from not having to deal with disk space or worrying about maintaining physical backup devices for duplicate or triplicate backups. They have all their data on their docSTAR server in-house, but PiF Technologies supplies the offsite backup facility and takes responsibility for all the hardware, software, and maintenance of it.”

Disaster Recovery Plan

Organizations cannot always avoid disasters, but with careful planning the effects of a disaster can be minimized. Every organization should have a disaster recovery plan (DRP) to deal with system or infrastructure failures. Your disaster recovery plan dictates how you will recover your business critical documents regardless of how and where they are stored.

Business Continuity Plan

Proactive businesses take it one step further with a business continuity plan to help minimize downtime in the event of a disaster. Your ECM plays a key role in disaster recovery and business continuity by helping you recover from a disaster regardless of the cause as quickly as possible with the loss of as little data as possible. In the case of a system failure or natural disaster such as fire, floods or malicious acts such as theft, documents stored in Eclipse are available via the web almost immediately depending on your deployment. Minimize downtime and data loss so you can quickly return to business even if you don’t have physical access to your building.

Security and Availability

  • 99.995% network availability
  • Automatic 256 bit encrypted back-up
  • Two redundant secure servers located in geographically separate data centers
  • Quick and easy audit management
  • Recovery within 48 hours in case of a disaster

Data Security and Compliance Certification

Your critical business data requires protection. Our solutions encrypt your data using a unique 256 bit encryption key to ensure that files cannot be accessed by others. The file is encrypted before it is sent over the Internet. The data resides in two SSAE 16 SOC Type 2  data centers located hundreds of miles apart from each other. Each data center has 24/7 monitoring, advanced security technology such as biometric access controls, back-up generators and redundant connections to the Internet.  The data centers we use hold the following compliance certifications and reports:

  • SSAE 16 SOC Type 2 Audited Data centers
  • PCI, HIPAA and HITECH AT101 attestation of compliance
  • 24/7 video surveillance
  • NIST 800-53 report and AT101 attestation of compliance for physical and environmental controls
  • Safe Harbor Certification

Our data centers are audit ready for customers requiring compliance and certification of our cloud based services.

  • HIPAA / HITECH: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
  • SOX: Sarbanes-Oxley
  • GLBA: Gramm-Leach-Bliley
  • PCI DSS: Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
  • SSAE 16 / ISAE 3402
  • Safe Harbor: European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection
  • ISO 27001: International Organization for Standardization
  • ITAR: International Traffic in Arms Regulations
  • FedRAMP: Federal Risk Authorization and Management Program
  • FISMA: Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002

Reliable Cloud-based Back-up

Tapes, hard drives and other portable media is prone to failure. They must be securely stored and protected from natural disasters such as fire, flood and theft. Our cloud storage solution uses 256 bit encryption and provides a greater rate of data recovery than on-site portable media. When there’s a hurricane, flooding or other catastrophic events in your area, you want to your data to be secure in another region. Our back-up solution includes two separate data centers with enough geographic distance to reduce the risk of natural disaster causing an outage at both centers.

Lower Cost of Recovery

Downtime can wreak financial havoc on a business. Since recovery rates for cloud backup are significantly higher in terms of file restoration success and time spent to restore those files, this method could save an organization a considerable amount of money when disaster strikes.

Our cloud based disaster recovery solution allows you to avoid costs associated with physical storage solutions such as: tapes and hard drives, secure physical storage, and employee training and support.

Ease of Use

Our cloud back-up solution is simple, seamless, and requires no user intervention. The backup is performed via an internet connection and no daily maintenance is required. With cloud back-up, you can never run out of storage space. Your online storage account can grow with it automatically. If it becomes necessary to restore files, our cloud back-up allows users to recover their files from any location. The recovery procedure is easy, efficient, and faster than portable media backup.
